Yes, folks, first goal of the game on Saturday morning, through the opposition coach and in. Diana was walking past the end of the field so got to see it close up. Rory was finally awarded player of the day. I was probably a bit mean not giving it to him when he got his first goal but I didn't want anyone to say he got it for the wrong reason. Stupid really, everyone thought I was too tough on him. Anyway, it is out of the way now. Harry's Grandma has bought a little trophy for the team and Rory gets it for two weeks (no game next Saturday due to holidays). He has taken it to bed both nights so far. He forgets about it now and then and then remembers and goes and grabs it. He was very happy. Took it to Allan and Jackie's to show Paul and Emma (Paul plays two games every Saturday, one for school and one for his club).
Anyway, good game, with all four of our goal scorers getting one each, final score 4-0. So far we have 24 for and 3 against, which isn't bad. Rory is averaging 0.28 goals per game, Joseph is 1.85, Harry 1.0. Aren't spreadsheets wonderful things.
The other soccer was pretty good too, fancy Croatia kicking Germany's butt. Remember the War! I think it is good that Argentina lost because they didn't really deserve to win the way they did. Mind you, neither did France.
No rugby this weekend, but Bledisloe Cup in Melbourne next Saturday night. Poms got their butts re-kicked in SA over the weekend to finish their tour without a win and only about thirty points all up.
Had Harry and Jared over after the game and so the place was rather full on Saturday. Was nice to spend most of the day at home though, did the same on Sunday. Didn't even go to the gym (watched soccer instead, but after playing with the boys on the back lawn most of the day on Saturday I think I deserved a bit of a rest). Will go tonight after a tennis club committee meeting.
Lawn is holding up pretty well given the rain earlier in the week. Did some minor gardening and trimmed the netting on the goal. Also bought a new shelf system for the garden shed so we can organise that better (R&K, got heaps of stuff you need to look at and decide if you want). Major ant nest in the shed was decimated with chemicals yesterday, think it is the same group that I have displaced twice already from the stepping stones and the ranchslider on the sleepout.
Kids are on holiday this week and next, so I am the only one that has to get out of bed, it's not fair! Especially when it is bloody cold. Not a frost today but could be pretty close.
